How I Can Help

Anxiety and Depression

If you are struggling with anxiety and depression, we will work together to identify sustainable coping skills and interventions. Through our collaboration, I will help you recognize your patterns and triggers so you can lead a more joyful and confident life.

Trauma

I create a grounded and calming environment to help you regulate your system and find safety and security within your mind, body, and spirit. Trauma is only one part of your story. Together, we will process your pain and develop a new narrative in which you are in control of your life.

Culturally Responsive

I strive to create a welcoming environment for clients with marginalized and oppressed identities, where all your identities are respected and honored. I believe it is crucial to understand how power dynamics and privileges affect your mental health. Together, we will integrate your cultural identities to develop interventions that best support you.

CREDIBILITY & CARE

Meet Your Therapist

As a trauma-informed therapist and certified EMDR practitioner, Amara brings a sociological lens to her work, deeply aware of how society, family, and culture influence identity and safety. She is dedicated to affirming your strengths and identities. Her goal is to help you let go of limiting narratives and foster greater harmony in your life. Amara uses a holistic, eclectic approach, examining links among thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, and cultural influences. She will help you build a sense of safety and security for your mind, body, and spirit. Collaboration is key; your care will reflect your identities and experiences. In sessions, you will learn practical coping skills, strengthen emotional regulation, and deepen self-awareness with EMDR techniques and body-based practices to foster lasting well-being. Amara strives to equip you with the skills to relieve distressing symptoms of shame, anxiety, anger, and grief, and to navigate the effects of systemic oppression.
